Freida Ann Black, 84 of Savannah GA, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2024.

Freida was born in Altoona, PA , daughter of the late William and Irene Maher. In addition to her parents, she is preceded to heaven by her husband, Ronald Gene Black, brothers Harold Maher, Paul Maher and Bob Maher and sisters Dorothy Santone and Marie Seager. She is survived by her sons, Brian Gorby and wife Theresa, Ronald Black and wife Davonna, David Black and wife Rashelle, Matt Black and wife Kim, Shawn Black and wife Andrea, Chris Black and wife Aimee; daughter Marie Bromley; grandchildren Adam Gorby, Jonathon Gorby, Ashley Rudder (Joey) , Thomas Greene (Maya), William Greene, Dani Black, Kendra Healey (Brandon), Brendon Black (Abby), Landon Black (Asia), Brayden Black, Devin Black, Sydney Johnson (Nick), Whitney Black, Cody Osborn, Dylan Black, Ethan Black, Zach Osborn, Jayden Black, Andrew James Hodges, Diana Hodges Townsley, Benjamin Hodges, Camden Hodges Christensen, Austin Black, Taylor Black Doggett, Derek Black, Kyler Black, Kerrigan Black, Decker Black, Christopher Foose and Craig Bromley; 28 Great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Freida was a deeply beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.

She had a deep love for gardening and flowers as well as birdwatching. But her favorite activity was traveling with the love of her life, Ron. They clocked many miles driving across the United States often visiting National Parks with their chosen routes bringing them close to family and friends for visits. Their car was a throwback containing actual folding maps and atlases with many musical CDs to keep them entertained.

A celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held November 11, 2024 beginning at 10am in the Chapel at the Alto-Reste Park, 109 Alto-Reste Park Altoona, PA with a graveside service to follow where she will join the love of her life in their last earthly destination park.

Her family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated staff of The Social at Savannah and Hearth Hospice.
